 Synopsis:

What if the love of your life was your best friend’s girlfriend, and you were the one that set them up?

When Nick loses his prestigious job at a law firm and is then dumped by his glamorous but demanding girlfriend, he is then required to grudgingly accept work as Santa Claus at a local Christmas grotto. As most of his friends are either getting married or promoted, Nick spends his days being fed up, by spoiled children, an awful boss and some unfavourable elves! Then one day he meets Alfie aged four. Alfie has one Christmas wish and that is for his mum, Sarah, to be happy again after becoming a widow. Moved by the Alfie’s selfless wish, Nick then plays cupid and starts to arrange a date between Sarah and his own best friend, Matt. But as time goes by and he spends more time with Sarah and Alfie and they slowly become part of his life, Nick slowly begins to realise that he’s is love with Sarah. And he has some decisions to make.

A hilarious and heart-warming Christmas romance for fans of Beth O’Leary’s The Flatshare and Marian Keyes’ Grown Ups.

Review

I absolutely adored this book. It was funny, witty, full of charm and a perfect cosy book to read on a rainy day. What I really enjoyed about this book, was how true to form the characters were from the get-go. The humour throughout the book was really good and made an even more enjoyable read. Although reading through some other reviews some people were not to found of some of the bad language, I wasn’t put off and felt it brought the book more to life as Joanna Bolouri has written this book exceptionally. Even though the book is not centred directly around the day of Christmas, it was the build-up of the coming days and the characters evolved and the thread and complexity of love and friendship that is woven was magically unfolded.
