Blurb

Norah Jones is known for two things, sharing a name with a famous musician and always being single. After another year of heartbreak Norah fears spending Christmas alone. Before she remembers Andrew, who she fell for ten years earlier. Fate pulled them apart, but not before they made a promise:
If they're both still single on Christmas Eve 2019 they must stand under the clock at Bewley's Café on Grafton Street, Dublin.

So that's where Norah decides to go. To Dublin. To that clock. And, hopefully, to Andrew. But it wouldn't be Christmas without a few surprises…

My Thoughts

Oh my, this is the most perfect read for cosy day in. I really liked how although it was based around Christmas time it didn't take over from the story. It just gave the story an extended element.

Nora and Andrew meet whilst on holiday in the gorgeous setting of Italy. After spending a week together getting to know each other, they make their pact. They soon part ways, Andrew Dublin/NewYork and Nora to London. In-between these 10 years we follow Nora and her story., the loss, grief, relationships and adventure. On the 10th year Noras mother ditches Christmas plans to visit her and with nothing else to do and Andrew never too far from her mind she just has to make this trip. She takes one of her best friends along with her, just incase she gets stood up.

The story is told in past and present tense and is easy to follow and make sense of. I enjoyed reading about Nora and her other girlfriends Caroline and Kiran and how they made their way through from young adults to adults. I loved Nora's character, flawed but pushing her way trough life and its trials. I was rooting for her all the way and really wanted her to get her happy ever after.

I enjoyed how the author added a level of banter and humour it to the book and it made it fun to read.  It is a beautiful and charming read and I highly recommend you read it.
