Allie, Stacie, Diana, Emily and Gail have been by each other's sides for as long as they can remember. The Fierce Five. Best friends forever. But growing up has meant growing apart. And little white lies have grown into devastating secrets.

When Gail invites the increasingly estranged friends to reunite at her Scottish cabin, it could be the opportunity to mend old wounds and heal the cracks in their friendship. But when a freak snowstorm rocks the cabin and one of the girls is found dead on the ice, their weekend away becomes a race against time - and each other - to get off the mountain alive.

And in the end, whose story can you trust, when everything was founded on lies to begin with?

A rip-roaring psychological thriller with a twist you won't see coming - perfect for fans of Lucy Foley's The Hunting Party and Ruth Ware's In A Dark, Dark Wood...

My Thoughts

A snowy, chilly thriller set in a secluded Scottish cabin is the perfect for this time of year to read.

There was a real sense of friendship groups explored of 'The Fierce Five' and the different role they each took within this dynamic group. They all seemed liked very opposite, hate each other , not likeable at times and toxic but you soon learn why they were a 'solid bunch' as you get to find out some lingering secrets that have been simmering for a while.

Allie was the only one at certain points  seemed harbour on to the past friendship, the 'what they use to be' and you develop a sense she was struggling with something and struggled to adapt to the new version of the group as they all had grown up and had independent lives. However, Allie was also the one that threw a red flag for me, as she talks about the Virgin suicides and compares them to her friends. I didn't know what the comparison was made to, so after a quick search it did make me question Allie. One character I did not like was Stacie, she seems like a trouble marker, the one that is always right etc, probably because I have met people like her so she left a sour taste for me. But I think this enriched the group dynamic.
I am not giving away any spoilers and telling you which one died, but after the death, it gets more chaotic with the group

When you start reading it is initially a bit confusing as it is told in a 3 part perspective and the first person we meet we don't get to find out who they are for a while. But I actually enjoyed this approach once I warmed to the idea.  Some chapters are not clearly defined so characters can merge into each other whilst your'e reading, but it's not dramatic. There is a switch between past and present too so we get to learn about the 'The Fierce Five'

It really does keep you guessing until the very end and there is a twist that changes everything. It was an exhilarating to read.
