In the wake of a referendum which has divided the nation, the last thing the Queen needs is any more problems to worry about. But when an oil painting of the Royal Yacht Britannia - first given to the Queen in the 1960s - shows up unexpectedly in a Royal Navy exhibition, she begins to realise that something is up. When a body is found in the Palace swimming pool, she finds herself once again in the middle of an investigation which has more twists and turns than she could ever have suspected. With her trusted secretary Rozie by her side, the Queen is determined to solve the case. But will she be able to do it before the murderer strikes again?

Review

This was such a quirky read. It was also my first read from the author and I believe there is a book prior to this so think I will read that.

Something is off at Buckingham palace but who is behind it?

It all begins when the housekeeper in found dead in the pool by one of the workers. The story then goes back 3 months and we learn more about the workers at the palace and the housekeeper. Like any work place, gossips is always rife and there is tension within the palace but the queen isn't aware. We learn about different members of staff receiving these letters that are mainly drawings but they hold a meaning. The Queen sends Rozie on trips to help her investigate the picture and we go on a timeline that backdates and off Rozie goes on her quest. But she uncovers more than she bargains for.

I really liked the scenes inside the palace as you felt like you were there with the queen and staff. The character progression was well executed.  The only thing that would have helped would have been a list or map of sorts to distinguish all the workers/ hierarchy and some royal family members that make an appearance. Nothing a bit of googling didn't fix though.

It has a fresh modern take to it and I really liked it. It had plenty of humour and a good mystery.
