My Thoughts

I have not read many dystopian novels but after this one I think I am going to read some more.

This book was intriguing, intense, thought provoking and challenging.

Susan and Steve have been trying to conceive for a long time and have yet to have a baby they so long for. A night out whilst Susan gets drunk and has a one night stand. Susan later realises she is pregnant as happy as she is to finally get the chance to become a mother she now has a dilemma. She cannot tell Steve about her infidelity so she embarks on a journey to try and change the DNA of the unborn so any results will show as Steve as the biological father.

However once Susan sets out to change a factor, it is like a domino effect everything changes especially when it comes to her her daughter Zurel.

Interestingly the book is in two halves. The first half we learn about Susans pregnancy, her life with Steve and the modification treatment she undergoes. Then 11 years later we enter the second half of the book we get to learn more about the treatment the outfall for other families and children. Also the relationship changes between Susan, Steve and Zurel.

This was an immersive read and I am going to get a physical copy as it was brilliant.
