Annie’s sister has gone missing. Why doesn’t anyone care?

Annie feels like she's at a good place in her life. Happily married, expecting her first child, enjoying a vacation with her extended family at their beautiful coastal home.

But then her sister, Sunday, suddenly goes missing.

Annie is immediately concerned, but the rest of the family assure her that everything's fine, this is the kind of thing Sunday does, she'll be back…

But Annie knows in her heart that something is very wrong. And she won't rest until she sees her sister safe and well.

As Annie digs for the truth, she realizes that some of her family are not what they seem. And as she draws closer to uncovering their horrifying secret, Annie finally understands that she and her unborn child are in terrible danger…

My Thoughts

The opening sentences from this book just pulled me in. SO poetic and heart wrenching  all at the same time.

"“The moonlight poured through the bedroom window. It woke me from a dream that was already slipping through my fingers as my eyes opened.”

So I knew I would be in for a treat. It is a slow burner but you get to explore the family a bit more but it does pack a punch with some really good twists! The last few chapters flew by and it fully ramped up.  I was not expecting it..

We get to hear from Annie, who is pregnant and with the disappearance of her sister. She feels like no-one is taking her seriously and wants to get to to the core of the issue. In doing so, lots of soul searching and really deep diving into the family dynamics takes place. It was infuriating to read how cold hearted most of them were and appeared to lack any empathy with Sunday going missing.

Although we don't get to learn a hug amount of about the family you still get a sense of the relationship they all shared to some extent.

When meeting all the different characters we begin to learn how toxic and manipulative some where and you start to dislike them quickly and not trust them.

It is a descriptive book which I LOVE!! Especially when it comes to psychological thrillers as it always keeps me on edge.
