Blurb
In search of a new life, sixteen-year-old Adriana Clark’s American family moves to the ancient, ocean-battered Isle of Mull, far off the coast of Scotland. Then she goes missing. Faced with hostile locals and indifferent police, her desperate parents turn to private investigator Sadie Levesque.
Sadie is the best at what she does. But when she finds Adriana’s body in a cliffside cave, a seaweed crown carefully arranged on her head, she knows she’s dealing with something she’s never encountered before.
The deeper she digs into the island’s secrets, the closer danger creeps – and the more urgent her quest to find the killer grows. Because what if Adriana is not the last girl to die?
My Thoughts
This is my first time reading a book by this author and I will definitely be exploring more.
Sadie, Sadie, Sadie; never has a character frustrated me but surprised me at the same time. She is flawed but has lots of courage and determination.
When she agrees to the case she travels from Canada to help the family but not without having to defend herself is met with much hostility from the police. But Sadie showed stamina and didn't hold back and gets to find Adriana. Unfortunately met with sad outcomes. As well as Sadie did she is also goes at everything full force to unearth the truth because she suspects the family are holding back information or know more to the disappearance of Adriana. No long before the move the family dont seem to have any trace anywhere online, which is surprising given the rise of social media.
We go on a rollercoaster of emotions and journey. We get to learn about a few more characters including another girl who Adriana last spoke to, however she is also met with unforeseen circumstances. So what is going on?
We then get to learn about the Mulls history. An interesting take in this book is we get to read several chapters about the Island. It adds that cold, dark atmosphere to the book and it was interesting to read. The chapters start to intensify and there are plenty of twists with a jaw dropping ending.
