My Thoughts

I do enjoy a historical novel and this one is based around WWII. 

It was focused around Malaysia and England and transported you into a time of worry and loss. 

Ella character was strong and determined even though at times she was in some horrific situations. But you find yourself rooting for her and just willing she gets to where she needs to be. Along the way we get to meet Noor and the two ladies develop a friendship, which I at times was questionable. Noors' character develop was well done whereby your'e invested in how she will turn out as there are plenty of twists and turns to keep your guessing. Noor was cunning at the best of times but also made sure she used the resources she had around her to get where and what she needed. 

It was well researched and so beautifully written that it captured the emotions. I was really invested in the characters and went on the journey with them.
