Blurb

Marina Forster has left her past behind. She is happily married with two twin daughters and holds a senior position at a leading publishing company. She never thinks about what happened fourteen years ago, about the scandal, the trial, the trauma that nearly broke her.

When a new fiction submission lands on Marina’s desk, she at first thinks nothing of it; That Girl is just another novel by another aspiring writer. But as she reads on, the parallels between the novel and Marina’s own past become ever clearer. At first, she is unnerved; then, she is terrified. Who is writing this? What do they want? And how do they know what happened all those years ago?

Increasingly paranoid and unsure who to trust, Marina fears the past may be about to repeat itself. She must put a stop to this before it’s too late – but who will believe her this time?

My Thoughts

Well this book was interesting. The plot of was intriguing that you just want to keep and reading and want to find out what is happening.

From the get go you can sense something is off. A complete stranger who does not want their details to be shared yet, specifically ask for Marina help. As the chapters start to come through Marina gets a feeling of deja vu. The story is very familiar to her, that is because it is about her. However the plot twist is the chapters talk about a murder. So how can Marina admit that the story is familiar to her without admitting or not to a crime.

But who is this person writing?

Essentially we get 2 books in 1. Marina current story is just titled in chapter numbers and the "That Girl" chapters have the title in them in the dedicated chapters, so it is easy to remember.

But this also means lots of different characters, which can get a tad bit confusing, but I found you soon get to grips with it and it starts to connect better. So do keep on reading. Marina needs to get to the bottom of this but who can she trust. So she starts to doubt almost everyone around her which adds that extra thriller layer to the story because you start to join in and formulate your suspects. But also question Marinas motive and truth in all this.

Overall I really enjoyed this cat and mouse style chase and finding out who is behind the chapters.
