Nazia Sami is a celebrated author, but perhaps her greatest plot twist is yet to be produced. In her final days, she wields a pen one last time as she fills her diary with instructions for her sister, Naureen, and writes six letters to be delivered after her death.

There is to be no funeral for Nazia. Instead, only six invitees are asked to attend a party, one of whom is a mystery guest. Over the course of an extraordinary evening, secrets are revealed, pasts reconsidered, and lives are forever changed.

My Thoughts

This was an enjoyable short read that made you pause at some moments. Having said that as it is a short read you may feel that you want more from the story and a deeper dive into some of the people. Nonetheless books always leave you wanting more questions and answers so I always see this is a positive.

The premise of this book was interesting and developed well. I really liked Nazia character and it is really  nice to have a Pakistani protagonist taking the lead in a less cliche style book so well done to the author.

In the book different characters regarded Nazia in a variety of light, some felt she may have pushed boundaries, come across rude and outspoken. Once playing keen role in her life, relationships have now turned and the realisation of why starts to come to life. Although closure does not tally up for everyone but it challenges thoughts and perceptions of how we see people and the true internal monologue we and they hold.

The book touches on friendship, politics, death, love and betrayal.
It is more of a chatty written book rather than descriptive, which was good as it brings out the emotions (or lack of ) the characters

Overall a very interesting and intriguing book.
