Blurb

As the country descends into a bloody civil war, Nala and Rajan must decide which path is best for their family; and live with the consequences of their mistakes.

Over time, Nala and Rajan teach their family why some parts of their history and heritage are worth holding onto; and why some parts and people have to be left behind.

My Thoughts

This was a bold read. It spans over three generation's, and three different continents to deliver a story love, belonging, sense of home, ethnicity/ migration and family and loyalty.

Sometimes we do end up with a few extra characters or they change drastically that could be seen as too many as it starts to get complicated and a bit confusing but it wasn't too bad. But think i needed a bit more information before the change.

The characters varied with different experiences, perspectives and depending on which generation they were form they either complemented each other or crossed boundaries.

I gained some more knowledge about Sir Lanka and the war and it has made me do my own research and learn some more. I do like it when books allow you to this about different cultures and countries, whereby you normally may not have considered to.

The author had a way with words that made you dissolve into the story, even with some harsh sections that made it a tough read, there was a good amount of humour that was subtle within the stories.
