Blurb

When Izzy O’Brien flees the city centre apartment she shared with her controlling partner, she relocates to the seaside town of Dun Laoghaire, and the house she inherited from her aunt.

Isolated and insecure, Izzy is relieved to be embraced by a tightknit group of female neighbours, who invite her to join their book club.

However, the town is not as sleepy as she thinks.

And her ex-boyfriend is not ready to let her go.

My Thoughts

Wow this was an intense book!

A gossip circle with a sprinkle of murders, masquerading as a book club sums this book up!

Izzy has such an intense life and the abuse she receives from her fiance is horrifying. So when she eventually leaves it is a relief.  However it is not long before Adam manages to find her which is really frustrating to read as you root for Izzy to make a new life for herself.

Soon Izzy meets Louise who hosts the book club and a whole host of different women with different personalities. Louise, Elaine, Kate, Tess and Izzy make up the bookclub.  What I really liked about the book that although the book club women came into focus that their partners actually had a part in the plot and where vital in the journey.

We get to read from a few different POV through the book, what I would have liked was maybe a name on the chapters so it was easy to keep track of but minor detail for me. It was a well detailed and written book that kept me engaged until the end.

There are plenty of twists in the plot to keep you on your toes about what is going to happen next! The chapters where short and kept you going as there was always a shocker.
