Blurb

Joe Jimenez, grieving father and estranged husband, on the eve of the anniversary of his son's death is on the brink of complete despair when he witnesses the arrival of a strange atmospheric anomaly.

The rift – a curious tear in the very air of his backyard – appears nightly, and after some experimentation, Joe discovers that for everything that's sent through the rift, something similar, but horribly wrong, comes back. And when something on the other side claims to be in possession of his son, Joe has to make the most important decision of his life: should he go through and find out?

My Thoughts

Well this book was phenomenal. A short read so I devoured it super quick!!

What I really liked was it had a few loose threads 3/4 of the way in so I was questioning what happened to certain characters and then as the story closes it comes together which was really good.

I wasn't sure if I would full connect with the reading as I have seen movies similar to the plot but worried it wouldn't translate on paper. But the other did a really good job i the descriptive element to the book and I could visualise it.

Al characters in the book played a pivotal role and were well developed. The plot and characters had an equal role here and it read rather well.

The story went deeper than the rift, the grief, relationships, family was intense and it times sad to read. The dynamics and relationship between Joe, Clara, Evan, the dog plays with sadness and beauty. Not too many characters which I really liked as it stayed focused on the plot.
The story did not drag for one moment and I was super happy that I had an opportunity to read this.

It was also one of them books that had enough things happening that it didn't overpower the plot but enough that it kept me really engaged as a reader.

I am super excited to read what the author had next!
