Blurb

Five days tucked away on Lefkada. Time enough for Anna Jenkinson to determine her future. And then return home.

But when this feisty young woman unexpectedly falls in love with the quaint village of Apokeri, she seizes the chance to start again. Away from her friends, former lover, and a critical father.

However, paradise isn’t always what it seems. And Anna unwittingly becomes embroiled in a host of other people's plans – including a matchmaking café owner, a laid-back bike rental employee and a man desperate to escape island life.

Over a sun-drenched summer, Anna negotiates her way through a village full of complex characters, hidden agendas, family sagas and destructive secrets. And when she inadvertently triggers a series of life-changing events for some residents, Anna must decide how far will she go to protect her new life.

Apokeri Bay is the first in a trilogy and charts a woman's emotional journey of self-discovery, resilience, and forgiveness. With twists and turns, it will appeal to readers of women’s contemporary fiction and anyone wanting a Greek island escape.

My Thoughts

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and so glad it is a trilogy and excited to see what happens next.

We join Ann on this journey where once she has finished travelling with her friends she decided to embark on a solo trip and stay behind in Greece.

I liked Ann character development. She takes this time to really contemplate different aspect of her life from her; family, friends and love.  She has to make some serious decisions with her partner John regarding where the relationships stands especially when they are considering moving. There also is a fractious relationship between Ann and her parents.

She starts to get more involved with the people in the community of the Island not all is at it seems and not all for the good. I liked that Ann started to explore the Island more and started to work as she helped out Kristina.

We get to meet lots of other characters which add depth to the story including, Kristina, Filip, Daniel to name some.

What I really liked was how the author managed to bring alive the characters and settings as you read the book. It is a descriptive which made it more immersive and enjoyable to read without being too laboured out or boring.

Not a complete holiday romance but you in for so much more including making decisions when faced with certain choices and dilemma's, complex relationships and friendships and self reflection.

Super excited for book 2!
