Blurb

Kiki grew up in New Zealand, dreaming of one day going to Glastonbury Festival. Now, mourning the loss of her beloved Yaya - the woman who raised her - she travels to the UK to follow that dream. It is only when she leaves home that she realises just how sheltered her life has been up until now.

Ned lives an active and exciting life. Well, he did until the accident. Now, he's woken from his coma, except no one knows. He can hear everything happening around him but can't make his body respond.

Still grieving for her best friend, the one person who'd known how difficult her marriage was, Mrs Malley, finds herself lonely and isolated with only her dog, Wordsworth, to keep her company.

These three strangers are each in need of a little kindness in their lives, and this beautifully poignant and uplifting novel shows us the world through their eyes whilst highlighting the power of human connection.

My thoughts

I LOVED this book!!

The characters were all very different but bonded and intertwined together in a unique way.

Kiki sets off from New Zeland to the UK as she is on a mission to unvocer the truth about ther mothers death. She is already dealing with the loss of her grandparents so grief at this stage is ingrained into her but she needs to find the person. As she settles into a new job role working in a pub she meets Mrs M or to Mrs Malley. I liked Kiki character she was inquisitive and had her mind set on a task she would do it. But she was on those friends that would always make time for you. The more we learn about Kiki's life the more interesting the plot becomes. At times Kiki seems very naive to her surroundings and her decision making.

Mrs Malley who lives alone with her dog who keeps her busy for sure. She went through recent grief of loosing her husband Roger and her best friend Harriett. I adored Mrs M character she said exactly what she thought and did not hold back! But the more we learn about her and her marriage to Roger we start to get more of an insight to how she lived her life and not all is happy.  You can see Mrs M almost loosing her identity of whom she was when she was pre marriage.

We then meet Ned, who has spent a long time in a coma following a sports injury who wants to  regain some normality back into his life although has lots of challenges from his health issues but feels he is stuck on pause mode.

We also meet  other characters attached to the main ones which helps establish the plot more.

This book goes through friendship and communication. It made me question a lot of things about how much information do we share with those around and what quantifies as too much or too less. The 3 go through so much together and it was wonderful to read in how there support network works.

I really enjoyed this book and it is worth a read!!!
