Blurb

Helena Lanark is the only one who knows about the horrors which once occurred in her family's house.

The heiress of an immense family fortune, she now resides in a luxurious care home; her mind and memory fading fast. Jane Tennison is leading a murder investigation into the recent brutal death of a young girl, her decomposed, starved body discovered in an old air raid shelter in the garden of the Lanark's now derelict house.

Initially the focus is on identifying the victim, until another body is found hidden in the walls of the shelter. As the investigation and search for answers intensifies, Jane travels to Australia. There she discovers the dark secret that the Lanark family has kept hidden for decades.

A secret that not only threatens to bring down a family dynasty, but also places Jane Tennison in mortal danger...

My Thoughts

We are now on Book 8 of this epic Team Tennison series and tour!!

We move onto a different chapter of Jane's life by means she has a new home, new love and a new team to work with. The timeline now is the mid 1980's.

Once again Jane is determined to solve this case and occasionally loses the balance with work and home. Unlike the previous cases this time Jane finds herself in Australia which can also prove more tricky when she starts to uncover some secrets and truths and a very powerful family.

Unfortunately Jane although has shown her worth and talent as an officer and now in a new team, it seems her colleagues still remain misogynistic and that does not appear to change.

The plot was very interesting. Jane and her new Partner Wayne head to a demolition site where there is a body of a female, however it is how they find her that sets off alarm bells. Not so long later another body is found and soon enough the dots start to connect back to the Lanarks family. Once Jane sets off on a trial in Australia secrets starts to pore out and we learn some devastating stories from the past.

I really enjoyed this book as I felt it deviated a bit more than the previous books in the series and Jane is more of the lead and sets off on different tasks. Also we get to find out more about the characters and more about Janes current life too which layered the book nicely.

Now to start Book 9 as the tour starts to come to end!!
