The death of Claire’s parents triggers troubled memories of her past life in Jakarta, a time that Claire has been running away from her whole life. Haunted by guilt and the misunderstandings and terrible accusations that forced her to leave the city as a teenager, she decides to travel back in the hope of finding answers and perhaps forgiveness.
My Thoughts
My first read from the author and it was really good
I love the cover for this book, it is so atmospherical and magical.
I really liked reading the shift in times from when Claire was a child to now as an adult. Both perspectives helped build a better picture and gain a better understanding to the plot.
Claires character development was interesting to read and you learn she has to grow up much quicker than most due to the events that take place in her life both times as a child and adult.
The book was much more than a plot as it went deeper into emotions, family, loss, bullying, finding a sense of belonging in the world, forgiveness and the ability to do so.
The author had a way with words that made everything come to life as you were reading it and pulled you in.
A beautifully written and thought provoking book that I am glad to have a read.
Thanks for the blog tour support x
