Blurb

One little push is all it takes . . .

Mortuary technician Cassie Raven is shocked to find the body of Bronte, a talented singer on the brink of stardom, in her fridge. The two of them were once schoolmates, although not exactly friends . . .

The police say Bronte jumped from her tenth-floor apartment, but Cassie's instincts are telling her it's murder. The death ignites a social media frenzy, and when police watchdog Phyllida Flyte is sent in to assess the handling of the case she is the only one willing to listen to Cassie.

They join forces but as Cassie delves dangerously deep into Bronte's personal history, more blood must be shed before the terrible truth is exposed.

My Thoughts

I am delighted to joining this blog tour not only on publication day but also starting the tour!

This is the 4th book in the Cassie Raven series. You can get by and read it as a stand alone but like any series I feel you do miss some precious details from previous especially when it comes to the  character development of the main leads. So I will be diving in and trying to get my hands on books 1- 3!

I really like Cassie character, she appears to be trying to navigate her work life balance but also has this unique ability that can also be overwhelming.  I have not read the previous books but you get a sense that Cassie is growing and naturally maturing. How she "works" with dead with a great deal of empathy and compassion and this was highlighted as they were sent to the morgue and how she spoke to them.  Cassie's love life turns complex as she tries to figure out what she wants from her life given her work and being pushed to the fore front more.

The plot  is set in London and fuses together the modern times with current eventualities alongside police and forensic procedures making this an entertaining read. I liked reading the attention to detail when it came to the forensic elements of the case and the post mortem.  The added fact that Cassie once knew the deceased allowed the book to have more twists and turns with a fab ending.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, for me it was something new and edgy and I loved it.
