Blurb

For two years, Jia Khan has been running her late father’s organised crime business in the north of England. So far, her authority has remained unchallenged, but now things are beginning to unravel.

When she finds her father’s notebook recounting his arrival from Pakistan in the 1970s, it awakes an old family feud that could have devastating repercussions for Jia. And worst of all, one of her staff lies brutally slain, his corpse displayed provocatively in her garden despite her sophisticated security.

My Thoughts

I absolutely loved the first book The Khan so super excited for  For Vengeance and the author did not disappoint.

Jia Khan is back and is has now taken over business. Jia's personal life has started a new chapter as her children's father is also back in her life, as she takes care of her toddler and her oldest settles into university life.

Jia's character battles through so much; stereotype and stigma and cultural differences of what a pakistani women should be doing, she someone how manages to make the shift and change. She has 2 personas. one to her business and outside world and two to her family whom she will protect at any great length.

What I liked about Jia in this book is how she does see the best in some poeple and wants to put some wrongs right. Her relationship with Sakina was interesting and empowering as she helps Sakina make some significant changes in her life.

I liked the character development, as you got to know more about them. We learn more about Jia's father this time around and into his backstory of his humble life in pakistan and how he tranformed into the crime world. But her under estimated the target would shift from himself even in death to his daughter Jia.

Alot happens in this book and it is fast paced but it all links together. I was engrossed from start to finish and there was never any loose ends. Everything was meaningful to the plot and nothing was out of place, which I really liked. The flow from past to present was seamlessly done.

You can read this as a standalone, however you will miss some backstory so I would suggest reading book 1. I  can't to read what's next from the author and really do hope there is a book 3 of Jia!
