Blurb

DETECTIVE JANE TENNISON'S POLICE CAREER HANGS IN THE BALANCE: A SINGLE STEP FROM GLORY - OR RUIN.

While she has elbowed her way into an elite team investigating non-domestic murders, there is nothing elite about her first assignments: a missing teenager cold case and an apparent suicide Tennison suspects is, in fact, murder.

But as she uncovers explosive evidence, Tennison's new colleagues watch like vultures circling prey. And, one by one, the cases no one else wanted are taken from her - and the glory along with them.

Now Tennison has had enough: of the rampant sexism, snide remarks and undermining. It's time to take what is rightfully hers from those who have held her back.

She just has to do what she does best: find her prime suspect . . .

My Thoughts

And just liked that we have arrived at Book 10! How has this happened. It has been amazing to be a part of the project and get to also read and review the books from 1 through till 10.

This book did not feel like an abrupt ending but a poetic journey we have been on with Jane through all her up and downs and trials and all the good and bad in-between.  We have seen Jane character development change over the series as she works hard and against odds to get to her desired job and gain the respect she deserves both professionally and personally.

Book 10 as in done in previous book continues to discuss and highlight the sexism, misogyny and some offensive behaviour within the workplace, especially in a male dominant place.  It has been cleverly done and not shied away from and that is telling within a workplace, but it was good to read and see how Jane is determined to be more assertive and you can see this change within her from previous books.  It was frustrating to read how some of her male colleagues do try and take advantage and credit for her work but glad she manages to pull it back.

We get to meet Maureen as a new character and partner of Jane. Their partnership was wonderful to read and you can see how Jane helps shape and change Maureen's views for the good.  It was tricky at the start but feel Jane recognised her own struggle and stepped up even though she may have felt over whelmed at times.

This was an engaging read, once again not a basic crime solving plot but the author weaved in a compelling story with plenty of twists.

Another fantastic read and if you have not already do give the #TeamTennison books a read, they have been a joy to read back to back as a series.
