Blurb

Nannies have a habit of dying in my husband’s family.

His family: The Percivals live in a grand fourteen-acre estate in the Cotswolds, with tennis courts, indoor swimming pool and several cottages - or 'lodges' as they call them. I'm only surprised they don't have a helipad.

My family: Mum's a florist, Dad's a kitchen-fitter. They live in a modest maisonette in Gloucester. I'm a hairdresser who dreams of owning my own salon.

I recently married the man of my dreams. The difference in our backgrounds was never an issue. Until now.

My husband persuades me to move into his family home while we save for our own place. It's the worst mistake I ever made.

I don't really fit in. My father-in-law has a twinkle in his eye I don't like. My effortlessly chic mother-in-law intimidates me. My sister-in-law's husband bullies her. They make no secret of their amazement that my husband chose me.

And now they've hired a new nanny for his sister's kids.

But nannies have a bad history in this family . . .

My Thoughts

The book starts off with a short prologue that gives you a tease of what is to come.

I liked how each chapter was titled with the POV of the character and they relayed that part of the plot. Some might find this a bit overwhelming but It was easy to track who was who, once you started to get into the book.

The book spans over a mystery that stretches over 3 decades so you get to familiarise yourself with the families and the ebb and flow of the story lines that stitches itself together as you learn more about people's actions and consequences.

The family is dysfunctional with many cover ups, lies and deceitful behaviour and seemingly Rose and Raff have the most normalcy in their relationship. I think this may have more come from Rose's family and upbringing. Their was a noticeable hierarchy and the richness the Raff's family had that alluded that due to their wealth they could do anything and everything which sometimes not a good thing.

Plenty of twists throughout the book that kept your going. A female led POV from Alice (the nanny), Rose and Mellisa (Raff's sister). Each chapter threaded characters that linked to the story and you start to lean about peoples intentions early on or gain an idea of what is coming.

The ending was a twister and the whole book was cleverly written. I really enjoyed it.
