Blurb

Welcome to Port Berry, where love and festive magic are just around the corner.

Ginny Dean’s quiet life running Port Berry’s only café is disrupted by the arrival of gorgeous and enigmatic Will Pendleton. Will has returned to Port Berry looking for answers about his family’s heritage.

Sparks fly when he meets Ginny. At the annual holiday party their connection only grows into an undeniable chemistry neither can resist.

Then Will announces plans to open a tearoom next to Ginny’s café. She sees her own dreams melt with the winter snow. For as long as she can remember she has dreamed of her own tearoom — and just like that, this stranger to Port Berry has snatched it away.

But Will is going nowhere, and when they find themselves stranded in the snow together, they discover that neither are their feelings.

With Christmas approaching, both Will and Ginny must learn to face their own fears and take a chance on happiness.

And perhaps they need a little winter magic to help . . .

My thoughts

This is not your average winter romance book. This is book 3 of 3 but the first one I have read. I do feel  you would need to read the previous 2 books to understand it better for the characters as there appears to be longstanding charachters.

As much as this does sound like a cosy read and parts are the plot touches on some heavy topics such as, trauma, assault, grief and loss.

It was interesting to read the relationship develop between Ginny and Will but I found myself wanting more. They both had strong characteristics  between them as they both lived these intense lives  but found that, that did not come through when they needed to resolve issues and it did lack in some part. I really wanted them  to shine and Ginny and Will to talk about it their past and future and how they would move forward as couple and how they would support each other as the recovery from trauma is not easy.   I feel more conflict was shown between them, more so Ginny and the reconnection/ communication was lacking so it made the characters feel a bit cold and shut off.

The supporting characters is what uplifts the book I feel and I am glad that there is an array of them, otherwise the book would have missed the mark completely The backdrop of the plot , in a  quaint town where everyone knows each other made it and supports  and helps each other was a nice read and added that uplifting element.

This book is one that, that there is more to the story than the blurb which is a good thing. It is worth a read but do expect this to be a fully cosy read as it does deal with some sensitive issues.
