Blurb
A cold case from the Swinging Sixties. A sassy senior sleuth. If Cat Caliban’s not your favorite crime-solving grandma, you just haven’t met her yet.
Meet Cat Caliban: former housewife, widow, cat lady — and private eye in training. Who said fifty-something was too old to start again?
But if Cat’s not old, the case that lands on her desk sure is. Back in the summer of ’69, rebellious teen Leila Perle secretly boarded a bus to Woodstock, and never came home.
What really happened at the legendary music festival — if the missing girl even made it there at all?
Some say that if you can remember the Sixties, you weren’t there. But Cat’s certain someone from the hazy, drug-addled era of peace, love and rock ‘n’ roll remembers exactly what happened to the missing music-lover.
And they’ll do anything to keep their terrible secret buried.
My Thoughts
Cat is an independent and sharp character who, even post-retirement, is eager to put her skills to use rather than settle into a quiet life. Drawing on years of professional and personal experience, she’s able to piece together clues and ideas in ways that make her a formidable investigator. Alongside her partner Moses, the duo makes a powerful team as they tackle this new case.
The book features a wide range of characters — not all of them likeable or easy to relate to — but this diversity makes the story more engaging. Some characters are unique and unconventional, with personalities that stand out and add depth to the narrative.
I particularly enjoyed how the author blended modern elements with a slightly retro feel. It’s refreshing to read a plot that doesn’t follow the usual conventions and offers something a little different.
The pacing is on the slower side, but that allows for a step-by-step look at the investigation, which adds realism and keeps the mystery interesting. The detailed exploration of the case makes the reader feel involved in the solving process.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes character-driven mysteries with thoughtful plotting and a twist.

Thank you so much for being a part of this adventure x 💛🤎
