Blurb

Someone pushed my boyfriend under a train. Everyone thinks it was me.

The police say he took his own life. But there were four other people at the tube station that day – and I know one of them killed him.

So I flee to Tidesong, my family’s crumbling clifftop house in Cornwall. Here I can grieve Marcus. Come to terms with his betrayal. And work out what really happened.

I think I’m safe here. Then the message flashes onto my laptop: Marcus didn’t jump. He was pushed. I know it was you.

Someone’s watching me. Someone has followed me here. Someone knows my secrets – or thinks they do.

And they won’t stop until I pay for what they think I’ve done.

My Thoughts

This was an action-packed book that was genuinely fun to read, and the synopsis immediately sounded enticing. It set up the expectation of a fast-paced and suspenseful story, which the book delivered overall.

The plot is told through several different points of view and across multiple timelines, creating a constant shift in perspective. Despite this, I found it easy to follow and well structured. While the character development isn’t explored in great depth, I think this worked for the type of story being told. This is clearly a plot-driven book rather than a character-driven one, and the focus remains on keeping the story moving and the tension high. One small downside for me was the lack of consistent time stamps. Having clearer indicators of when events were taking place would have helped, especially with the frequent timeline changes, and this was really my only negative point.

The book also includes an additional subplot, which added another layer of suspense and helped maintain momentum throughout. I was surprised by how much grief and loss were woven into the story, as I wasn’t expecting such an emotional element in an otherwise action-heavy read. The use of multiple POVs and a wide range of characters also made it harder to predict who the main culprit might be. At different points, I found myself suspecting several characters, which kept me guessing right up until the end.

The story does start off a little slow, but this seems to be mainly due to the introduction of the characters and the groundwork being laid. Once everything starts to come together and the story finds its rhythm, the pace quickly picks up and becomes hard to put down.

This was my first read from this author, and I was impressed. Overall, it was an enjoyable, fast-moving thriller, and I would definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy action-packed stories with plenty of twists and suspense.
