Blurb
Glorious spring has arrived in Todi. Will friendship and hope blossom as well?
After a successful seasonal opening in April, friends Emma and Annarita are eager to welcome a new set of guests to their Umbrian inn during the full bloom of May.
Upstate New Yorker Lisa needs an escape from betrayal and the prying eyes of her smalltown neighbors. Elderly, reclusive artist Antonio hopes leaving Milan for a country sojourn will spark his long dormant creative muse. Manhattan socialite mother Sharon grudgingly embarks on a country holiday with her young son, Josh, with whom she shares few interests. Roman author Margherita prefers time spent alone, but her career may depend on a stay in bucolic Todi among fellow guests. And Emma and Annarita are anxious to embrace their close friend Tiffany on her brief stay in the heart of Umbria.
The swallows may have returned and colorful petals now dot the countryside, but will the inn’s atmosphere allow hurts to heal and friendships to blossom?
My Thoughts
This was a new author read for me and I enjoyed it. This is the third book in the series but I read as a stand alone.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of Umbria, the story unfolds at the charming Three Coins Inn in Todi, where owners Emma and Annarita prepare to welcome a fresh collection of guests, each arriving with their own hopes, burdens, and reasons for escape.
Among them is Antonio, a withdrawn elderly artist from Milan who has come seeking inspiration in the peaceful Italian countryside, hoping the retreat will reignite his passion for painting. Sharon, a glamorous and outspoken socialite, arrives alongside her son Josh in the hope that time away together might help repair and strengthen their strained relationship. Quiet and deeply introspective, Margherita is a gifted writer struggling to find direction for her next novel and searching for the spark that will bring her creativity back to life. Meanwhile, Lisa escapes from her small-town life in New York after a painful betrayal by her fiancé, looking to the inn and its surroundings as a place to heal and begin again.
As their lives gradually intertwine within the warm atmosphere of the inn, each guest discovers that the journey may offer far more than they originally expected.
The novel introduces a wide range of characters, each bringing their own personalities, struggles, and emotional baggage to the story. Some are far more complex than others, with layered histories and personal conflicts that gradually unfold as the plot develops. This variety helps create a rich and engaging dynamic throughout the book, making each interaction feel meaningful and authentic.
At its heart, however, the story is a celebration of friendship, healing, and the importance of human connection.
I would recommend this book.
