The Yacht- Blog Tour
I have previously read other books by this author, so I already had high expectations going into this one, especially knowing there would be plenty of twists and suspense throughout the plot. Thankfully, I was not disappointed at all. From the very beginning, the story creates an atmosphere filled with tension, mystery, and unease that keeps you hooked. I also have to mention how amazing the cover is, as it perfectly captures the dark, mysterious tone of the novel and immediately draws your attention.
The story centres around a wealthy family who set off on a luxury yacht for what should have been a relaxing and glamorous getaway. However, it quickly becomes clear that this trip is going to be anything but peaceful. As events unfold onboard, tensions begin to rise and the passengers start questioning not only one another, but also the yacht staff. Secrets, suspicions, and hidden motives slowly come to the surface, creating a gripping and claustrophobic atmosphere.
We are also introduced to Piper, who takes a job working on the yacht and soon realises that this is far from a normal opportunity. At first, the role seems exciting and glamorous, but it does not take long before she becomes aware that something is not quite right. As the complications grow and unsettling truths begin to emerge, Piper finds herself caught in a situation that is far more dangerous and complicated than she ever expected. I really enjoyed following her perspective because she often felt like the outsider looking in on the family’s dysfunction and secrets.
The story is told through multiple POVs, which worked really well for this type of thriller because it allows the reader to slowly piece together the bigger picture from different perspectives. It can take a few chapters to fully settle into the storyline and understand how all the characters connect, but once everything starts falling into place, the story becomes incredibly addictive. We hear from Piper, the wife Sandrine, the eldest daughter Melissa, the youngest daughter Kitty, as well as the family patriarch and the detective investigating events. Each perspective adds another layer to the mystery and helps build the suspense throughout the novel.
The yacht itself was the perfect setting for this story. Its isolation added so much tension because those onboard are trapped together with no real escape from the unfolding drama or the consequences of their actions. The confined environment creates a constant sense of unease, making every interaction feel more intense and suspicious. It really heightened the claustrophobic atmosphere and added another layer of suspense to an already tense storyline.
The book is extremely well written, with vivid descriptions that make it easy to picture both the luxurious surroundings and the darker undertones hidden beneath the surface. The author does an excellent job of balancing family drama, mystery, and psychological tension while keeping the reader engaged throughout. There are plenty of twists, secrets, and emotional moments that keep you questioning everyone’s intentions right until the end.
Overall, this was a gripping and atmospheric thriller filled with tension, family secrets, and suspense. Once the story gets going, it becomes very difficult to put down. I would definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy locked-room style thrillers, multiple POV narratives, and dark mysteries with plenty of twists along the way.
