Review

I am a sucker for thrillers so my bar is always set high and this book was very well executed and kept me reading on and not wanting to put it down.

We meet Kristina who is the protagonist in this book who is a a therapist specialising in trauma and is based in Oslo with her husband Eirik who is in politics.  You start to think she has the picturesque life, perfect job helping others, beautiful home and a husband, however you realise she is carrying a-lot of grief and emotion herself from the loss of people close to her and even though she supports other people on how to manage your emotions she cannot seem to do this for herself

Kristina latest client is Leah who is a very successful  author and appears initially to be making progress in her recovery.  However there is a set back... One day Leah arrives at the office dishevelled and tries to get Kristina to come with her to an isolated cabin which she refuses to do so. After a few missed appointments and the police not being interested, Kristina starts to contemplate her next move and even to go the cabin. On arrival to the cabin has Kristina found herself in danger and what will she uncover.

Some parts were predictable and it is a slow burner at the start but I think it flowed well and the latter half definitely picked the pace up.  Lots of layer that were peeled away in the first half and plenty of twists to keep you thinking with a magnificent ending.

The atmospheric and poetic writing Alex has delivered in this novel is  absolutely superb!! I hope this gets its own televised production one day as it will be epic.
