The Blue Hour- Blog Tour
Review
I was very happy to received this book as it was beautiful to read. It took you on a journey to understand love in a different way and added humour and a backdrops of the beautiful Cornish landmark.
It is set in two timelines about 2 women with the same need for love and life. In 1994 we get to meet Tilly Barwise and in 2015 we meet Ava Westmoreland.
Tilly is a formidable character, she is stunning, feisty and strong willed and she originally lived in Liverpool. We get to learn about her great love that is Jack. I really enjoyed reading diaries as it gave you an insight into war time Britain. This bring Tilly to Cornwall to gain a new friend and care for children. As Tilly is now in a home and literally says what she thinks, it's fair to say she has gone through a number of carers. Now enters Ava, who is employed by Tillys' daughter to care for her and who has her own woes. Ava has come to Cornwall after a terrible breakup, loss of a friendship, homeless and needing a fresh start. I was curious to see how the relationship would work because both characters were almost like chalk and cheese. Yet their relationship flourished and it was beautiful to read.
The writing was wonderful and didn't shy away from pushing the vocabulary to making it so vivid to read. I don't want to give too much away in this review as it will spoil it but an excellent debut from the author.
Definitely one to add your list!!
