Blurb

When a young woman makes a distressing middle-of-the-night call to 911, apparently running for her life in a quiet, exclusive beachside neighbourhood, miles from her home, everything suggests a domestic incident.

Except no one has seen her since, and something doesn’t sit right with the officers at Hampstead County PD. With multiple suspects and witnesses throwing up startling inconsistencies, and interference from the top threatening the integrity of the investigation, lead detective Casey Wray is thrust into an increasingly puzzling case that looks like it can have only one ending.

And then the first body appears, and Casey’s investigation plunges her into a darkness she could never have imagined...

My Thoughts

Soon as I read the blurb I know this book was for me. Lots of interesting characters that are well developed.

The story starts off with Tina Grace making the call, fortunately she is able to say where she is before the line disconnects. However on further investigation it doesn't add up. phone calls fro various people helps Detective Casey with a location to start. Soon another body is found and more questions are raised. Casey is very strong willed to not close the case as she is pressured by her senior colleagues. Even at times she puts herself at risk but is determined to find out where Tina is and what happened to her? As soon learns that there is a more sinister and dark force at work here.

I loved Casey's character and it related to real life. She was dedicated to her job albiet a bit too much and was well liked by her peers but wasn't always sure of herself. I liked the conversations with her colleagues and it showed some team working and environment.  We get to meet Tinas mother also, and you feel for her fully and what she is going through. We also learn about Tina's sibling who has his own issues and you really they would step up in this situation. We get to meet lots of other characters that add depth and value to the book and I couldn't put it down.

It was a very dark and atmospheric read, with lots of twist, red herrings and brilliant plot. SO glad I had the opportunity to read it and cannot wait to see what is coming next
