Blurb

A small community. A deadly secret.

Until recently, Isobel has always loved The Close. A quiet road of large houses tucked away in the beautiful English countryside, it seemed like the perfect place to live.

Then, six months ago, a young man was killed in a mysterious hit-and-run incident. The police investigated but no one was charged.

It’s left a bad feeling in this little community, a feeling that someone knows more than they are saying.

So when new neighbour Linette arrives, Isobel thinks it’s the perfect chance to make a fresh start, to repair relationships and rebuild her community.

But someone else has a very different plan, and bad things start to happen.

When there’s another death, Isobel realises her home, her marriage, and her family are all in terrible danger. She is certain that what’s happening is connected to the hit-and-run. But how? What really happened on the night of the fatal accident? And above all, who is Linette and what does she really want?

The New Neighbour, the stunning psychological thriller from the bestselling author of The Visitors, The Only Child, The Arrangement.

My Thoughts

Another first new author for me and I was not disappointed.

The Close, was a niche, idlycli and tight nit community, that is until the unfortunate accident. Even after a full force enquiry they never did find the culprit. The family subsequently moved out of the home, that Linette moves into.

I felt for Isobel as you can see her getting more and more isolated. Her marriage is in a dire way and she her only friendships seems to have fizzled out. She looks after her 2 children, Harper and Henry, Henry has also being diagnosed with autism. So with the Linette moving in Isobel wants to make some changes and meet new people, however soon has a sense that Linette isn't telling the full truth. As Linette settles into her new surroundings, seemingly unaware of the previous history of the history or that is what the neighbours think. However Linette seems to settle in, helping everyone, organising events, the neighbours love her! Not long after trouble starts to appear in the Close, and not long after another tragic death.

What is going on? are both the deaths linked? Does someone on the Close know more than they are willing to share? You have so many questions each time you turn the page and suspect everyone!!

This is such a clever and twisty book with a thrilling ending.  Would receommend!
