When you think you're safe,
When you think you're all alone,
That's when he'll come for you...
A silent killer stalks the city, targeting those home alone at night - killing without pity or remorse.
As panic spreads, Detective Inspector Helen Grace leads the investigation, but is herself a hunted woman, her every step dogged by a ruthless killer bent on revenge.
As she tracks the murderer, Grace begins to suspect there is a truly shocking home truth that connects these brutal crimes...
Check the windows, lock the doors - this is a twisted page-turner that will prey on your darkest fears, in the way only M.J. Arlidge can.
My Thoughts
If you haven't read any MJ Arlidge books then I suggest you do. I got "Pop Goes the Weasel" and "Eeny Meeny" a few years ago and since then became hooked. The author has a way of captivating you into the story that your'e constantly guessing what is going to happen next.
Cat and Mouse lived up to my expectation once again. Helen Grace is a well rounded character and we have been introduced to her through out the books. Just when you think what more can the author offer with Helen we get to see a different side to her. Normally Helen blazes her way through the team and gets the answers she wants. This time around she has a few hurdles to jump through and I think the most vulnerable we have seen the character be throughout all the series. The tension builds greater this time with her superior and her new partner which upped the strain on these relationships. We meet Emilia the journalist again but this time she really irritates Helen and from stress, anger overspills. Emilia did get under my skin as you which she would stop interfering but I suppose that adds to the book.
Another brilliant read and series starring Helen Grace. I wonder if this will be the ending to the series or what else can Helen go through.
