Blurb

Renee Gulliver appears to have it all: a beautiful house overlooking a scenic estuary on England’s East Coast, a successful career as a relationship therapist, three grown-up children, and a beloved grandson, Xavier. But then Xavier vanishes after Renee fails to pick him up from school, and the repercussions are manifold.

Renee is wracked with remorse; the local community question her priorities, clients abandon her; and, as long-held grievances surface, her daughter Mia offers her a heartbreaking ultimatum. Amid recriminations, misunderstandings and lies, can Renee find a way to reunite her family?

My thoughts

My first read from the author and it was wonderful.

A family drama that was beautifully wrote, dramatic , sad and empathetic in many parts.

Renee on the surface has it all, the job, perfect family and perfect home. But what we dont see is the stress, misgivings and tension that is simmering under the surface which comes more to light as the plot continues.

I felt for Renee as not only did this incident have an impact on her home life but also her professional and her personal wellbeing. It highlighted the struggle she had to endure during her life as we learn more about her character. She juggles a-lot and it signified how easily everything quiet easily builds up.

We learn about her misunderstandings can highten barriers to communication if they are not dealt with. This added great depth to the book and the plot as you it makes you more aware of how we interpret communication so differently and the consequences if not sorted out can be devastating.

A brilliant read.
