How far would you run to escape your past?
Venice Beach, Los Angeles. A paradise on earth.
Tourists flock to the golden coast and the promise of Hollywood.
But for eight strangers at a beach front hostel, there is far more on their mind than an extended vacation.
All of them are running from something. And they all have secrets they'd kill to keep . . .
My Thoughts
Originally published as Welcome to Wherever You Are, this is a re-edited release
Although this is a re-released book this was my first time reading it.
A very interesting and dynamic read. We go on a journey with characters; Eric, Nicole, Tommy, Peky, Savannah, Joe, Ruth, Matty, Declan and meet a few others in the hostel. I felt the story focused a-lot on Eric, Nicole and Tommy especially the first half and we get to hear from the others too in parts too.
The chapters intertwined from present to past and we start to delve further into their lives to find out how they ended up in Hollywood. As we learn more about their lives I started to realise it wasn't all coincidence that they were connected somehow. But lots of twists and turns to keep guessing what the link was or if there was any at all between some characters.
Some characters were more likeable than others which provided a god mix but once you come to your conclusion you can start to see why. It was interesting to read about hostel and backpacking life as it something I haven't experienced myself.
A surprising and shocking plot that is well worth a read.
