THE RULES

    1. Listen carefully
    2. Do your research
    3. Trust no one
    4. Run for your life

Harriet Reed is newly engaged to Edward Holbeck, the heir to an extremely powerful American family.
When Edward’s father hands her a tape of a book he’s been working on, she is desperate to listen.
But as she presses play, it’s clear that this isn’t a novel. It’s a confession to murder.
Feeling isolated and confused, Harriet must work out if this is all part of a plan to test her loyalty. Or something far darker.
Because this might be a game to the Holbeck family - but games can still be deadly.

READY OR NOT, HERE THEY COME . . .

My Thoughts

Not only was the proof cover amazing the contents was even more spectacular.  WOW!

The blurb gets you already thinking this is one dysfunctional family  but add even more layers to that and even then you cannot describe them! It reminded me of the movie 'Ready or Not'.

I really liked Harry (Harriets) character although she doesn't come without her own secrets and big secrets at that. I felt it added layers to her character development, because you want to like her and sympathise her with the cat and mouse chase she has to face, but also when you learn of what she has done in her past, most of that seeps away.

But she sure does have to face a-lot with the Holbeck family and she's determined  to get it right. Harriet is an author and is with Edward. Edward finally introduces her to the rest of the family however he knows that is going to be a challenge as they have their own principles on who they will allow to marry into the family.

The added layer of tension is made greater as events take place around thanksgiving, Krampusnacht,  until Christmas. Everyone seems to welcome Harry but she knows it is Robert Holbeck that she really needs to win over. But the tape he hands over to her triggers a series of events, that get your turning the pages over! The games they play are jaw dropping and and kept me on my toes!

Lots of twists, we get to learn more about the family and the sinister games they think are fun in their own macabre way. The title of chapters I really liked, I always think the small things just help elevate a book.

I really hope this gets converted into a drama series or movie as it will be ace!
