We Are All Constellations- Blog Tour

Blurb

A heartbreaking but hope-filled tale about the stories we tell ourselves to survive...

You are strong. You are brave. You are not alone.

Seventeen-year-old Iris is happy. She might not have her mother but she refuses to let her past determine who she is. Then Iris finds out the truth about her mum’s death.

As her childhood memories prove uncertain, not even her friends or new love interest Orla can help her make sense of them.
Reeling from the discovery, Iris is forced to question everything she knows about her friends, her family and herself.
But can she find a new future now her eyes are open to the past?

My Thoughts

I find YA books pull at the heart strings so much more. And this book and Iris did exactly that.

At first reading through some people may struggle to like Iris or understand her. But her character development was so well done  that you soon begin to realise how complex Iris is as a being.  Some parts were very tough to read as topics of mental health and loss are talked about but it was well put together.

You get a sense that Iris has to grow up quick and the cost of that impacts considerably.  At times she has to act responsibly and others she may be seen as a rebellious teenager pushing boundaries.  Orla starts to bring the light back in her life but even that friendship isn't without further complications and raises more questions for Iris.

The message of opening up and challenging your emotions was strong and powerful. A heartbreaking but thought provoking book and I enjoyed going on this journey with Iris.
