She’s desperate to save her business. But will she end up losing her life?

Jenna Wyatt has finally achieved her dream. She loves baking cakes in her charming new café and relaxing in her perfect city flat. But as inflation soars and her shyster ex strikes, she worries everything she’s worked for will go up in flames.

Delighted when a customer offers to rent her spare rooms, she’s happy to tolerate his teenage daughter’s rudeness for a chance of financial security. But when she discovers her tenants are hiding secrets and a woman is found drowned in the canal, Jenna fears she’s been sharing her home with a killer.

Can she bring a murderer to justice without becoming the next victim?

My Thoughts

This is my first read from the author and they have many other books!!

This was a shorter read at  166 pages which meant I did finish it rather quickly and the fact that it was a really investing plot it felt like time had past quickly! What I like about it the most was I thought I had it all sussed out and then you get the big plot twist which shocked me!!!!

We go on this journey with Jenna Wyatt and we are in for a rollercoaster of events. She goes through alot and at points it feels whatever decision she makes that will be good for her turns out to go bad. You can empathise alot with Jenna as you take on her worries and woes as not only does she have a business she wants to see succeed she has to deal with her ex. Jenna did come across a strong person who will reach out and ask for help.

The tenants we meet are Skye and Andrew, a father and daughter duo. Who do visit the cafe and offer this solution for Jenna, this way she can keep her cafe and get some extra income. Much to the dismay of her co-workers Jenna does agree. But not son after Jenna gets this feeling that all may not be well. Andrew straight away gives you this eerie/ creepy feeling and Skye, she did irritate me alot at the beginning of meeting her as she acted very immature. BUT as the plot evolves we get to know Andrew and Skye alot more and as more context is provided you get to understand their characters and their behaviours.

The characters all around were strong and was was really well played out was the different POV we get during the narration as you can see how everything rolling out. Alongside the main characters we get to meet a few extras characters which help elevate the book . Overall a well written descriptive book that can get you Immersed into the story!!
