Blurb

After dying in tragic circumstances, twelve-year-old Alfie Moore watches over his grieving family from the darkness of the firmament. He learns that adults are not perfect. He discovers how ugly and cruel they can be, how much they cry, and is shocked at how much they lie.

Alfie’s father, consumed by grief, grows angrier every day and he decides that dark clouds will no longer visit his family as he does everything in his power to give them a life they deserve, even if it means revisiting his dark past and working alongside Alexis Carver in London’s murderous underworld.

A gut-wrenching story of loss, survival and…revenge.

My Thoughts

This is book four in the Vengeance series and it’s a strong, satisfying finish. It can also be read as a standalone.

The story gives us the perspective of twelve-year-old Alfie, who guides us through events before and after his short life. The grief woven throughout the book is powerful, as Alfie sees how deeply his family mourns him. Their struggle to navigate such profound loss and find a way forward is portrayed with real emotional weight.

We meet a range of characters, all connected by the thread that is Alfie. The author does a great job of capturing different emotions, viewpoints, and timelines, weaving them together in a way that feels cohesive and engaging.

As the story builds, events across the city create a domino effect that touches many lives, often without them realising it. Several strong plot points interlock well, heightening the tension as everything unfolds.

If you’re looking for a suspenseful, emotionally driven story with plenty of tension, I’d definitely recommend this book.
