Blurb

Two old friends. One sun-soaked adventure.

Dorothy and Gina may be separated by twenty years, but their friendship is timeless. At seventy-one and nearly ninety, life’s too short not to have a little fun – especially in Corfu.

When Dorothy is invited to visit an old friend at his villa, she insists Gina comes along. They’re looking forward to sunshine, sea breezes, and perhaps a dash of ouzo. But their plans are upended by an unexpected guest: glamorous actress Florence Quinn, who’s taken up residence in the pool house.

Florence may sparkle on the surface, but she’s hiding something – and someone – from her past. Determined to help, Dorothy and Gina embark on a quest across the island, only to find that Corfu holds more secrets, scandals, and surprises than they ever imagined.

My Thoughts

A Lighthearted Celebration of Friendship, Mischief, and Generational Perspectives

This novel proved to be a witty, uplifting, and thoroughly enjoyable read centred on friendship and the unexpected adventures that can grow from it. While it appears to be part of a wider series, it stands comfortably on its own, offering enough context and character depth for new readers to feel fully immersed without prior knowledge of earlier books.

The island and beachside setting provides an instantly appealing backdrop for the story. The coastal atmosphere lends a sense of warmth and escapism, naturally lifting the tone and complementing the humour threaded throughout the narrative. The setting feels purposeful rather than decorative, reinforcing the novel’s breezy charm and helping to create a relaxed, inviting reading experience.

At the centre of the story are Dorothy and Gina, whose dynamic forms the emotional and comedic core of the book. Through Dorothy’s social circle, readers are introduced to a wider cast of characters, each contributing something distinct to the unfolding plot. The supporting characters are well balanced: some bring humour and spontaneity, others reliability and grounding. The gradual growth of friendships, along with the heartfelt conversations that emerge along the way, adds warmth and authenticity to the story.

The pacing remains steady and engaging, making it an easy yet satisfying read. While the tone is largely lighthearted, the narrative still offers a few twists to keep readers interested. Particularly enjoyable is the intergenerational perspective woven into the story. Different ages and life experiences shape how characters approach challenges, offering moments of humour, insight, and occasionally surprising wisdom. This element adds depth without detracting from the book’s overall sense of fun.

Ultimately, this is a charming and uplifting novel that celebrates companionship, shared adventures, and the joy found in unlikely bonds. For readers who enjoy stories driven by friendship, humour, and a touch of mischief, this book offers a delightful and feel-good escape.
