If you’re a fan of horror that gets under your skin and leaves you questioning every little noise in the house, this one is definitely worth adding to your TBR! 👀📚

The story follows the Thornton family, who leave behind the crime-ridden streets of London in search of a fresh start in the picturesque Irish village of Dingle. With their newly renovated farmhouse and the promise of a quieter life, they hope to settle into their new surroundings. Unfortunately, their dream quickly turns into something far more sinister.

It all begins with the appearance of folded paper fortune tellers, those familiar childhood games we used to make at school. Only these aren't predicting crushes or how many children you'll have. Instead, they contain terrifying messages foretelling death, and when the first prediction comes true, the family realises they're dealing with something truly horrifying.

From that moment, the tension builds as the Thorntons become trapped in a nightmare of fear, psychological torment and increasingly disturbing events. Watching this once close-knit family begin to unravel while Jimmy desperately tries to protect his loved ones made for an intense and unsettling read.

I love horror, and it takes quite a lot to genuinely frighten me, but this book certainly managed it! There were moments that left me deeply unsettled, and I wouldn't recommend reading it just before bedtime if you're easily spooked. 😂 The story is dark, brutal in places and packed with unexpected developments, although a little humour along the way provides some welcome relief.

The ending was particularly memorable, delivering a final twist that I didn't see coming.

Overall, this was a chilling, atmospheric horror story that kept me gripped from beginning to end. Definitely one to read with the lights on! 👻
