Blurb

What if your best friend wanted your new life too?

Sammy Jenkins only comes to Brambleton because her best friend Chloe needs a favour. Again.

One shift serving canapés at a North Devon country mansion. Then it’s back to mounting bills and a life that's going nowhere. Except the owner of the estate sees something in her.

Suddenly, Sammy is being offered a full-time job as housekeeper, complete with a cottage of her own. It’s more than she ever dreamed of, even if Chloe thinks it should all have been hers.

But settling into life at Brambleton Hall isn't easy. Magnus, the butler, demands perfection. And Nate, the handsome, reserved gardener, gives nothing away. Somehow, though, Sammy is making it work. She has a home that's just for her, a job she’s good at and Nate might not be quite as distant as he first seemed.

Then Chloe comes to stay.

And while Sammy understands the rules that keep Brambleton Hall running smoothly, Chloe doesn’t see why any should apply to her…

My Thoughts

This is is a Standalone Sixth Book in the Brambleton series.
Brambleton Hall proves to be an unexpectedly comforting place for Sammy as she begins her trial as a housekeeper. Despite the strict expectations and structured routine, she gradually discovers that she thrives in an environment where everything has its place. However, finding her feet among the staff isn't always easy. While certain members seem resentful of her new position, others appear genuinely concerned about her wellbeing, leaving Sammy to work out who she can truly trust.
Outside the Hall, news of Sammy's circumstances seems to have travelled throughout the village. Rather than feeling embarrassed by the attention, she discovers that her connection to the estate earns her a little more recognition than she anticipated. Although she initially keeps herself to herself, there are some lovely moments of warmth and kindness from the locals as she slowly settles into her new surroundings.
One of the things I love about this series is how it breathes fresh life into a familiar setting. We get to discover new sides to village life while still enjoying the characters and places that have become so familiar. There is also a lovely hint of romance developing, which had me hoping that everything would work out for Sammy.
This turned out to be such a charming and heartwarming read, with far more emotional depth than I expected going in. It was lovely watching Sammy find her place and begin to build a life for herself. I found myself rooting for her throughout, and the gentle romance made the story even more enjoyable. A cosy, uplifting read that was perfect for taking away on holiday. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a feel-good story with a little romance and plenty of heart.
